I have an ATI 9800XT which dose not work.
I think the reason it dosent is that one of the small ICs on the main chip has broken off.
I have a borked 9800 Pro so I could cut off an IC from the main chip on that.
The thing is these ICs are so small I doubt very much that I could solder it on to the 9800XT.
Dose anyone know if I soldered a trace across where the IC should be would it work. Obviously the IC is there for a purpose but would a trace of solder work as a substitute.
I do have a 9800 Non Pro I could do a test solder on but would prefer not to.
If someone could help I would really appreciate it.
Would the solder work in place of the IC?
Tom.
