Anyone updated their ATI video card to 10.10d hotfix? In CCC I see MLAA which was a bit of a surprise. Always though MLAA was something the PS3 used to blur or smooth graphics as the GPU in the PS3 isn’t powerful enough for true edge AA etc..

I turned it on last night, and to my shock it is blurring or smoothing games that have no AA or you turn AA off. Well, I tried NFS Shift.

Anyone noticed this? I got the drivers from a link from the graphics forum, google searching and it appears ATI are developing MLAA into their 5xxx and 6xxx range of video cards.

That has to be good thing right? Some games on PC that use certain engines don’t have AA for ATI hardware. I know I had a right time getting AA to apply in Batman Arkham..

I really do not understand the full ins and outs of ATI drivers and application of MSAA, AAA or MLAA... So please if I've got something wrong, correct me or explain further..

There is a huge thread on it in the graphics card section - seriously worth a read.

Yeah, I was skimming through it however thought I'd ask some who'd maybe used it on games, and not gone on about all the technical ins and outs..

wonder if anyone has tried this with GTA IV yet?

I've tried it with borderlands, and it did work. In the game, it was worth having, but the steam popups (shift+tab) were blurry as hell.

I'm going to try it in GTAIV when i get aorund to playing it, but there are a few other games I want to get too first :)

I think this will be a useful feature for my HTPC, which I do like to do some gaming on, but it's graphic card is weaker than my desktop (5670 v 5850).

Just tried that, yes the steam overlay is very blurry, I tried F1 2010 with no MSAA in game and used MLAA, no difference if you ask me other then an big increase in fps.... So image looked almost the same but then as I tend to play with v sync 60fps is about the max I can get.. :p
