Has anyone been able to get their ATI card running properly (with aero) under Vista ?

I cetainly cannot, using Vista ultimate (32 bit) I cannot get the drivers loaded, ATI CCC wont run, I get a message about a know compatibility with Vista, I have been in contact with ATI support, all they have recommended is that instead of 7.6 drivers, try 7.5, then they said try 7.2

On the box of the X1650 is says "certified for windows vista"..........what a lie

sorry but what a daft post. because you have a problem with your card, you think ati as a whole is the problem? you think no-one else is running an ati card successfully in vista? what a narrow-minded view....

i've been testing vista since beta2 last summer with 3 different ati cards (x800gto, x800xt and an x1950opro) and **** knows how many different driver versions (beta/release candiadate/final) and they all have worked with aero no problem. :)

only issue i've had is the 7.5s didn't support my monitor's native res but apart from that, the drivers have been great.

as for your problem, i don't know what to suggest. duff card possibly? does it work ok in xp? can you test in another machine? :)

Wow theirs so much hatred in people these days. Take a chill pill dude.

No need to create two threads about the same problem is their. I think people got the message in your first thread. Move on.

Card works fine in XP

If you read my post properly I asked the question if anyone has been able to get the card running properly under Vista
I also could not get the drivers loaded properly with another card, an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Vista window pops up and says there is a know compatibly prblem with ATI CCC

Im sure ATi Tray Tools works in Vista now, if so why not just install the drivers on their own and use that for all your AA/AF etc... settings, if you can't download the drivers on their own for Vista though, can you do the Device Manager way like you can in XP by selecting the card and updating the driver that way by pointing it to where your Cat Drivers are, then installing Tray Tools.

:)

you weren't specific at all with regards to the model of yor card at all but rather ati as a whole. at least that's how your post looks to me....

Spec in sig, never had a problem with ATi drivers in Vista.

*touches wood*

In fact I don't think there's a performance gap going XP to Vista anymore. :)

9800pro works fine in vista using full aero effects. you have to enable aero manually once you install the ati drivers. since aero is probably disabled for you with the basic drivers during install.

The only problems I've had with ATI in Vista have been where the drivers have been half-installed, or not installed properly. A cleanout with Driver Cleaner has always fixed that.

I've not had any crashes in Vista with my ATI cards, except where I've pushed them a bit too far overclocking wise.

Thanks everyone for their replies.......that seems to leave only one thing left, somehow could my Vista cd be corrupt, doubtfull, but maybe?
