Hi guys

Got an ATI X1800XT with AVIVO (obviously!) and am trying to encode some video to play on my ipod.

Now the ATI website says it takes about 5 mins for 30 mins of video...but on my machine its taking 40 mins for 1 hour of video! That from avi --> IPOD Video format.

My rig:
AMD 3500+
1 gb crucial ballistix PC4000
2x74 GB Raptor Drives in RAID 0
ATI X1800XT
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro

Any ideas, could there be something wrong with my drivers or are ATI just bluffing with those times? thanks.

P.S. its a 512mb card!

Doing it through CCC like it says on the websites?

Yeah switched to basic --> used the wizard --> just uninstalled and reinstalled all ati software...will try again!

Tried again...worked faster but still stuttering image..sound is spot on. Hmm...cant find anything on google...wonder what is going on.

Any ideas?

Right, some more info:

At lowest settings the outputted video is spot on. Smooth and playback good, but video quality poor.

At highest settings ouput video stutters (on 3 comps) and sound is spot on.

Now trying out standard settings..but I think it will stutter too!

A friend of mine encoded the same vid on a powerbook and it is smooth as silk!

Any other encoders people know of that could so the job?

No idea what has changed but all working perfectly now... :D

Edit> In the meantime decided to try out (and then buy) Intoo mpeg encoder - superb piece of software, easy to use and works about 20x faster than ATI AVIVO and better quality output :-)
