ATI Catalyst 6.8 drivers out

Optimizations made to ATI's graphics memory manager have led to significant gains in DirectX applications that make heavy use of graphics memory on 256MB ATI graphics cards:

* 3DMark06 performance improves as much as 22% on single ATI Radeon® X1000 series cards with 256MB of graphics memory at 1280x1024 and higher when anti-aliasing is enabled. The largest gains are found on the ATI Radeon® X1800 series and ATI Radeon® X1900 series of products
* Call of Duty 2 performance improves as much as 30% on single ATI Radeon® X550 cards or higher with 256MB of video memory at 1280x1024 and higher when anti-aliasing enabled. The largest gains are found on the ATI Radeon® X1800 series and ATI Radeon® X1900 series of products

Hi there

So all these gains on the 256MB cards now surely make them quicker than the 512's?

Or does it mean to say cards with 256MB and higher are getting huge performance gains?

Anyway whatever the case ATI do seem to be the stronger at the moment with their great X1800/X1900 pricing. :)

Just ran 03 again, and got a small gain from when i ran it yesterday on the 6.7's.

6.7's got 15,844

6.8's got 15,907

A64 3500+, x1800 XT 512mb, 2gb Geil Value, Asus A8R-MVP mobo, all stock. :)

Not tried 06 yet as i can't find it :( , probably have to redownload it. :D

Nice find mate thanks

Just one problem, they're not for x64 yet :( so buggers me over

Any idea how long ATi usually take to get them working on 64bit

Bit of a balls up there me thinks, these are 6.7's still, click on Information Center on the left of the CCC :-

CATALYST® Version 06.7 :(

Change the title to not out. ;)
