9/10/2007 : Catalyst 7.9 drivers released and available on AMD GAME!

Highlights of the Catalyst 7.9 release include:

Performance improvements

Far Cry performance improves as much as 14% on the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT in Crossfire mode, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT single card, and ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT in Crossfire mode.
Call of Duty 2 performance with Anti-Aliasing enabled improves as much as 12% on the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT in single card and Crossfire configurations
Half-Life 2: Episode 1 performance improves as much as 9% on the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT in Crossfire mode and as much as 6% on the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT in Crossfire mode
Serious Sam 2 performance improves as much as 46% on the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT in Crossfire mode and up to 27% with Anti-Aliasing enabled on the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT in single card and Crossfire configurations
Quake 4 performance with Anti-Aliasing enabled improves 9% or more on the ATI Radeon X1600, ATI Radeon X1650 Pro, ATI Radeon X1300, and ATI Radeon X1550 series of products in both single and Crossfire configurations

Avivo Video Converter for Windows Vista (64-bit)


This release of Catalyst™ introduces the Avivo Video Converter for the Windows Vista (64 bit) operating system. The Avivo Video Converter is a transcoder tool that provides a quick and easy way of converting videos from one format to another. The Avivo Video Converter found within the Catalyst™ Control Center, allows the user to select the input file, and output format, along with the quality level and file location. The Avivo. Video Converter accepts a wide variety of file formats as a source, and outputs to file formats such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4/DivX, WMA, H.264/AVC and more.

Catalyst Control Center: Color Temperature Control

This release of Catalyst™ introduces Color Temperature Control within the Catalyst Control Center, allowing users to adjust the chromatic level shown on their display. Supported on the ATI Radeon X1000 Series and Radeon HD 2000 Series of products.

This release of Catalyst™ includes significant OpenGL performance improvements for a variety of ATI Radeon graphics accelerators for OpenGL consumer based games such as Doom 3 and Quake 4.
Note:
To see the OpenGL performance benefits on older products (ATI Radeon X1000 Series, ATI Radeon X800 Series, ATI Radeon X700 Series, ATI Radeon X550/X300 Series, ATI Radeon 9800 Series, ATI Radeon 9700 Series, ATI Radeon 9600 Series, ATI Radeon 9500 Series), users must install the Catalyst 7.9 Linux driver for the ATI Radeon HD 2000 Series. An upcoming Catalyst Linux driver release will add official support for the OpenGL performance gains on older ATI Radeon graphics accelerators.

Resolved Issues

The TV-out size and position now supports adjustments on system running Linux and containing an ATI Radeon X1900 or higher product.
Running HP CAT on 64 no longer results in a BAM hang.
X server no longer fails to respond when a DFP display device is connected to the secondary port

for those who didnt know... which includes me. as HL2 - Portal wont work unless i updated graphics driver :)
 
Should be in the gfx section and these drivers were released on the 10/09 which was a month ago (american date format 09/10), most ppl are on the 7.10 betas including myself.
 
Yeah, last months unfortunately. There's even a newer hotfix since then I think, and of course the leaked 7.10 RCs. One tip for future is that if they where this months drivers they would've been called 7.10 for Oct 2007, 10/07.
