ATI Catalyst 8.11 Released

I had a whole heap of trouble getting these drivers installed last night. I was sat there thinking 'this is justice for me going on about how I have never had trouble with ATI drivers'..

Then I realised I had downloaded the XP64 rather than the Vista64 driver pack. :o

haha I did the same thing with 8.10! Glad i'm not the only one...:D

Ati icon in task bar/Right click on it for Extra options. You can allocate a certain card to a certain Piece of screen etc, Is that what you mean ?

Nope :-

ATI CrossFireX™ Enhancements
This release of ATI Catalyst™ enables users to verify whether an application is
running in ATI CrossFireX™ mode. The new option found in the ATI Catalyst™
Control Center system tray, will allow users to verify whether a Direct3D or
OpenGL application is running in ATI CrossFireX™ mode. (The “ATI Cross-
FireX” logo will be shown on screen when the application is running).

How do you get this to work? Any Ideas?

It's already working on 8.10 set as well. You right click on the ati system tray icon then move the cursor to the first card and select "display crossfire capability (something like that, can't remember the exact words)". All it does is displaying crossfire x logo on the top right hand side of the screen whenever cf is working.

OK still can't get it to install on my 4830 setup. But I did notice on the amd driver selection page there is an option 4830 on the list, which brings you to 8.10 download page while selecting all other cards bring you to the 8.11 download page...

This is quite poor.

Still don't see it

It doesn't seem to show on the X2, only 2x seperate cards in Xfire, besides it doesn't do anything, it just sticks a big ass logo that doesn't go off in the corner of your screen obstructing your view, so your not really missing owt. :D

Adobe and ATI STREAM = Photoshop support ?!

Apparently the vast majority of the GPU work in Photoshop CS4 is actually just being done by DirectX calls, this mostly boils down to the 'insert 3D object into image,' which I've tried and it actually works really well. :p

Seems to look sharper to me? did not have any problems installing 8:11.

Call of duty 4 seems to run the same though as i said before just seems a lot sharper....

Showing and Hiding the ATI CrossFireX™ Logo
When ATI CrossFireX support is enabled, you can choose to show the ATI CrossFireX logo when running 3D applications in full screen mode. This logo appears in the top-right corner of the screen to indicate that ATI CrossFireX support is enabled. When ATI CrossFireX support is disabled, no logo is shown.

Note: This feature is available for ATI Radeon™ HD 2400 series and later graphics cards for which the ATI CrossFireX technology is supported and enabled.
Right-click the ATI logo in the Windows® system tray.
In the menu that appears, select the graphics card corresponding to the Display GPU for your ATI CrossFireX configuration, select CrossFireX Settings, and then do one of the following:
Select Show CrossFireX Status Icon (Where Applicable)—The ATI CrossFireX logo appears whenever ATI CrossFireX is supported and enabled for your system. When ATI CrossFireX support is disabled, the logo does not appear.
Clear Show CrossFireX Status Icon (Where Applicable)—The ATI CrossFireX icon is hidden at all times, even when ATI CrossFireX is enabled.

It works here.

Seems fine to me with my 4870X2 - in fact solved some graphics corruption I was having with Crysis.

Doesn't show with two 4870x2's though.

I give up. :p

anyone having problems shutting down with these?
i uninstalled all ati software first then installed the new drivers.
now comp won't shutdown. i return to comp ( after pressing shutdown button) and it's still trying.
after moving mouse about it restarts and tells me there was an unexpected shutdown:confused:

any ideas?

Very little difference between these and the 8.10 second hotfix drivers for me.

Benchmark in Far Cry 2, about + 1% difference on first run, then -1% difference on second run.

Still can't get my 4870X2 to overclock as well. Have tried with everyset of drivers and run auto-tune, it set it's values, then as soon as I run an application i get artifacts everywhere.

Taff.

Having a problem with these and my 3870x2.

Basically i uninstalled the old drivers through device manager, restarted in safe mode, ran driver sweeper to get rid of the ATi display drivers, restarted and installed the new 8.11s. Got the typical blank screen that doesnt go away and waited for the HD activity to stop (was about 5 mins) then reset the PC.

Now when the PC boots up i dont get CCC anymore and even when i try and start it manually, nothing happens though in Task Manager there is a CCC.exe process.

This is with Vista Business 64bit and any help is much appreciated :)

Last time I updated my ATI Cat drivers (8.9) i didn't de-install the old ones on Vista 64 but did a straight install over the top. Worked fine, however, am I on dodgy ground doing this? Should I definatley de-install the drivers first?

According to some of the other forums, the ATi installer program in Vista is very good for unistalling the necessary old drivers and installing the new ones.

However i read this after i had already tried doing mine.

Reinstall of all the drivers may be in order i think as it still isnt working after a couple of reboots :(
