ATi Catalyst 9.12's Next Wednesday.

Smashing :) Picking up my 5850 in the 29th hopefully. Ati will devo fixed problems with the new cards, and will offer proformances boosts, they said they well. They have been working on them for some time now, we just have to wait and see, hopefully proformance in dirt 2 with increase.

I'm loving my 5870 and despite the fears i had switching from Nvidia to ATI and their notorious drivers I can honestly say i've not had a single problem and i'm really looking forward to the 9.12's :)

What's the bet they don't give the boosts they have been saying.

My guess is there will be some toys exiting prams come next Wednesday, especially from the 5770 crowd when it doesn't magically perform better than a 4890. ;)

i noticed from your sig you got the vapor x version. any chance you got any reviews on how it compares against the other standard ones?

When have any "performance" drivers lived upto expectations?

Apart from the nvidia "big-bang" drivers everything has been very incremental.

Yeah I reckon they will be a big let down.

I think the best we can hope for is around 5-25% in probably a handful of games.

I don't think they'll be a let down. Anyone with a realistic mindset is only going to be expecting an extra 1 or 2 FPS. I'm just hoping it fixes the 'slow down' in Dirt 2.

What 'slow down'? The drop in FPS? Isn't that because of lack of CF support which is then fixed by the patch from AMD?

If not and you're referring to something else, then sorry! :)

Slow down is where the game dramatically slows down (as if in slow motion) even with high FPS (over 60!) and then suddenly returns to normal speed. It is incredibly annoying, and is barely survivable on corners! Thanks for the well-intended advice though!

I get that sometimes and it's usually when hitting a large puddle etc. Turning down my AA to 2x fixed that a fair bit (gaming at 5760x1080).
