ATI Catalyst™ version 10.5 thread

Yeah it does matter it was fixed and now they forgot to include it in the 10.5's, it's complete complacency.

From twitter..

BC2 long load times back with 10.5? CatalystMaker - was supposed to be there - found out its not. Will get hotfix ready

ETA on BFBC2 loading times hotfix? CatalystMaker - a day or two

It's complacency but it's nothing really major considering you can still enter the server, at least they've realised their mistakes and are addressing the issue asap, unlike Dice.

Reinstalled 10.4 Cat's, as the underclocking function in the 10.5 Cat's is not working as it should be, 46'c GPU idle temp compared to 34'c > 10.4 Cat's.

Why don't ATI include the proper underclock function even with Beta driver's, etc, it's no big deal to include it!!!!

Come on ATI your slipping!!!!!

This fixes the multi monitor issue? Typical they bring them out after i get rid of my multi monitor setup. Might just stay with 10.4's for now.

Same here. Put these right over 10.4a and no change in idle clock speeds or idle temps - I;m still at 36 idle and 41 under load :D

That's almost certainly because you haven't installed the drivers properly. No point bragging about it when the absence of increased clocks at idle represents a poor install. uninstall your old drivers first........ every time.

No need to uninstall first with Ati drivers at all, stop with the Do not swear! already.

I find that installing over the top always works and is best. There was once I uninstalled my old drivers and it made a complete mess of it and I ended up having to reinstall windows.

Anyway, my info says the right CCC and driver versions, I have the full overclock sliders.

If I overclock in CCC there is no change in my idle speeds and temps. However I have noticed that if I use MSI to overclock, the idle speeds do indeed increase to 400Mhz but that's the least of the temp issues since voltage is set to 1.3v

However, I;m lucky enough to be on water to idle temps still the same as before ;)

Apparently some people are saying if you just click 'Apply Defaults' in the Overdrive page of CCC you will get the old 2d clocks back.

I find, when using MSI-AB. I have a overclock profile and a normal profile. The normal profile defaults to the 2d clocks however whenever I select the profile I've messed with it always stays at the 3d speeds.

A year or so again it was wise to uninstall everything now though its best to install over old drivers.

Not according to ATI. Can you point me to a thread on here maybe that confirms what you're saying. ta.

As stated in other posts. CatalystMaker himself said its best to install overtop of.. Now I think I would believe him over yourself considering he is part of the team making the drivers.

I just installed over the top, no problems so far, (not gamed yet though). Apart from on the register sign in opt in thing, my 5830 isn't listed!

When you install over the top, the installer uninstalls old drivers anyway, or am I wrong?

That's not the case, it will replace files but may leave some unwanted files and configs in place.

Oh, and this is direct from the AMD support website:

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticle...tallationInstructionforMicrosoftWindows7.aspx

It is a known fact that problems with drivers can be due to an unclean installation and this has been covered in every support forum in the land countless times. Of course it is often fine to install over the top but NOT ALWAYS.

I don't really care what cat maker says, I have my own experiences.

I know AMD advises that you uninstall, however their own uninstallation process is not without issues. It was either 10.3 or 10.4 which totally messed up my system and then it refused to allow CCC to install in future.

That has been my only problem ever with drivers since October and normally I always just installed over the top however, for once, I thought I would do it "properly". Never again.
