Best drivers for my 5970 i had were: 10.3 or 10.5. 10.6 was great for benchmarks though. 10.7 was ok mind - just no improvement over previous

Same for me, don't get these problems you guys have with the 5970, 10.6 were great improvement, 10.7 didnt improve but wasn't worse than before

I have a friend running 2x 5970's without any driver issues. Think hes either on 10.6 or 10.7

This is what I find strange about Ati drivers in recent months. I have a 5850 and have stuck with the 10.4 as I have found them very stable with great performance. It seems all the drivers since have had various problems although many people post with favourite drivers which are different, no consistency from ati in the past few months I'm afraid.

I was in the same boat, I found the 10.5a driver to be best for my setup, but there is a bug with starcraft that makes the units disappear with that driver, it is fixed in 10.7 and 10.7a, both of which regularly bluescreen my machine.

Between a rock and a hard place, my patience grows thin.

Running the 10.7s here ctd a few times on bfbc2 but it now seems stable again

Yeah, sympathise mate. Have even considered selling my 5850 Toxic as I 've hardly played a game since buying it and the inconsistent quality of Ati drivers is annoying. Might try a 460GTX.

For those of you in my position I'm currently testing out the 10.8 beta5s from the guru3d forums, and they are working well so far. No bluescreens yet (of course I'm going to get one now I've typed this) and it still contains the fix for the disappearing starcraft elements.
