I've been using the profiles feature in CCC to basically switch between forced AA/AF and "application defined" but I have to do it manually before running the game.

Is there a way for this to happen automatically for certain games or at least create a special exe file that launches the game and activates the profile simultaneously?

Also will CCC return the 3D settings to default, after quitting the game?

I know ATi tray tool allows this very feature, but I would prefer to do everything within CCC.

No no & no. sorry

Wait: you can launch a game with the profile & make one for each game.
I also made a default profile to put things back to normal.

I meen honestly, how had can it be to impliment game profiles, Nvidia have had this in there drivers for YEARS
That being said I still wouldnt part with my 4870, fantastic little card for the money.

It is something that ATI should have sorted out with AUTO switching along time ago but its certainly no deal breaker for most.

Nvidia have got their faults as well, looking at their shambolic SLi will tell you that, i mean come on, isn't it about time they managed to get different cards working together, or are they going to take ******* years to sort it like they did with Multi Monitor. :D

You can use ATT to do your profiles exactly like Nvidia cards if you want to as said above.

Because theres not much point having different cards working together? its perfectly possible to get it to work with custom BIOSes - but most of the time you end up with pretty negative results (microstutter, etc.) or losing much of the benefits of one of the cards.

Its a long time since SLI was shambolic.

Technically you can do it indirectly. What you have to do is setup a profile with your required settings for the game; and set the profile to load the game when you activate it. It's not as strong as autoswitching, but its one way around the issue, or ofc you can go ATT if you like.

whats so difficult about this, you make a profile and set it to open a game with the profile. Then you open a game by right clicking the ati logo in the tray, which is pretty much the easiest way to open a game anyway as its the simplist menu there is really. right click, done. Or go into start menu, find the relavent shortcut, done. THeres probably some easy way to make a shortcut link to activate the profile and stick it on desktop if you're that way inclined. But a nice easy list of games in the ati panel is fairly simple. Even if you don't want to change settings, you can link all your games to load from there so you have them all in one nice easy access place.

They've also had it for years so not really sure why people say they don't have profiles when they clearly do.

To be completely honest, when i've had nvidia cards, or ati cards, for years I never used profiles, really ever. Pretty standard options in the CCC have worked fine in all games I've played over the years. The only reason I use them now is lack of switching to full 3d speeds while playing windowed games so when I play something like Lotro windowed I'll change my clocks via a profile in like 2 seconds with one click. Very convienient for me.

Profiles are useful to have for a number of Unreal 3 based games which don't support AA in game, but can be forced on via CCC.

They are also useful for older games like Homeworld 2 which I frequently play and also Oblivion which has neither AA or AF.
