ATI CCC problems!

Hey,

I'm having problems with my card, but more likely it's CCC. I run programs, which, I can't remember the name of it, but the graphics go wrong, as in stretched and dots etc.

Sometimes when this happens CCC recovery kicks in and puts everything back to it's default to make it work.

I've just done this with CCC, but played Fifa10 and the same problem is happening.

I have the latest driver installed.

Any help?

Could you please be a bit more clear as to what you mean here? What sort of programs are you running? Apps? games? Since you can't remember the name of them it's a reasonable deduction to make that there 3rd party applications from an unknown source that are most likely still in a beta stage of development.

What other hardware do you have? What monitor are you using and what resolution does it use?

Sounds like a duff card to me. It happens to everyone at times, it's not a brand thing at all. Try and pinpoint the exact issue, and it'll be a lot easier to help you with your issue.

Well, I thought it was just in games. Now I can't even load the PC due to the whole screen being corrupt when starting Windows.

I can't explain what it's like, but there are grey bars, pixels everywhere etc.

I would get a screenshot but it's impossible to use.

Does it look anything like this?

Yeah, the same thing it seems.

This is my 3rd card that's ka-put, seems strange.

I'm running my Pc with an older card now, so I've eliminated the Mobo from the equation.

Thanks for the help guys, another RMA for me.

If your running a TV card , it may be that windows is trying to run screen graphics through it (probably not technically correct but will do as an explanation)
Could be a driver conflict. Had a similar problem some yrs ago on a s939 build - cannot remember now which was the way to deal with it except to clean both tv & gpu drivers off then reinstall .(it's the order of re-install that I cannot remember but if you try gpu 1st and test...)

Sorry missed
I also have a monitor that has Freeview built in?

Have you another monitor you can test with ?

If it's the same thing, your card is borked. Your issue will get progressively worse as well.

Mine started with slight corruption, to constant crashing to the desktop with a VPU recover error message, to crashing as soon as I started any application that used the GPU past 2D clock speeds, to simply booting in to windows.
