Ati copying matrox:eek:

not really copying, just adapting they're hardware to run in that way. a lot of modern gamers use multi-monitor setups, why not use this feature for the graphics cards you're creating to take a chunk of performance and multi-monitor setups markets at the same time

I don't quite get your point? Most people who are interested in Eyefinity are well aware of Matrox TH2G.

TH2G is quite poor in comparisson to Eyefinity of course, look at the price, £200-300 for the box.

As for normal monitors? I wasn't aware that Eyefinity required any sort of special monitor to run?

TH2G was out of many people's reaches, I think currently as it is, ATi's Eyefinity is better for games than TH2G, the cards themselves have been designed with that in mind.

Who's gonna buy a TH2G box when they can buy a 5850 or 5870 for the same price? It'll save people money.

Hi there mate, Matrox had done something similar with the triplehead2go, but A) It cost £200-300, the same as the graphics card which now have this function, and B) Was also limited in what resolution you could use.

ATI have not only made the technology more flexible, they've increased the screen resolution you can use, and rolled it into thier new graphics cards.

Considering a 5870 only costs £60 more than a TH2GO on its own...I'd say that's pretty good value, and that's why people like it.

Its not it hadn't been done before; its that it had been limited, and exclusive.

Yes the displayport caveat is a PITA for 3 monitors, but then with more displayport equipped monitors, and also ATI-tested displayport-->dual DVI adaptors on the way, then there are few issues!

your cant just use a 5850/ 5870 you need the special monitors to run
it i think

One of them has to be display port. I'd hardly call it 'special', but display port isn't the most prolific connector, I'll give you that.

As long as you get an active DP>HDMI converter, you don't even need a DP monitor.

The Eyefinity demos AMD/ATi did on the 10th of September were all using HDMI/DVI monitors and a DP>HDMI adaptor for the third screen.

You've said that about 4 times now, but not actually said why you think that.

You most definitely don't need special monitors, has some one told you that you do?

yeh i got told that it needs realy expensive type of monitors

i realy should have know its was bo***ks since it was my m8 whos a RELLY big nvidia fan boy
