ATi Dirt 2 Hotfix

So a supporting driver before release, by almost 10 days, shockingly bad driver support for new games, yup.

Now all we need is anything between 3 and 10 beta drivers over a two week space from Nvidia in the week after release to support it to really put ATi's slow driver support to shame.

IN all seriousness, both companies get support on or just before release for most games just fine, I don't know why anyone complains, this is also a AMD-twimtbp type game.

The only funny thing I can remember is a couple big releases AMD has got its fixes out first when they were BIG TWIMTBP titles when Nvidia did need several beta releases to get it right. But I'm happy to admit thats a rarity, only once or twice that I can remember in hundreds of games.

As for prices coming back down, we'll have to see exactly what happens with the exchange rates in the next few days, with a pretty big hit on the UK stock market today, the US being closed(i believe, checked, thanksgiving) today we'll have to see how their market reacts and how the exchange rate goes. If the UK drops more than the US in the next week reacting to the Dubai banking issues, then the pound could drop a lot again, meaning no cheap 5XXX's for a while at least.

Sod it, I'm also installing.. will bench tommorow and see if it improves my crossfire score :D

Although I'm hoping for my sound bug to go away in all honesty :o

Releases on the 11th Dec IIRC.

They've pushed the Hotfix out so the reviewers can try and get some better performance at a guess.

Its the 1st in the States, and the 4th here last i heard, but i don't know which one of those dates Steam will unlock it on, but if i had to guess, id say the 4th :p

EDIT: Oh its next week :D

Well if its on steam I think its the 1st everywhere

EDIT: Its just xfire support :/ I doubt it improves anything else, otherwise they would say, its not something you want to hide :D

steam unlocks dirt 2 on 1th desember, so basicly you get it then, unless AMD gets trigger happy and give HD 5000 owners a suprise

dirt 2 steam coupon is included with selected Radeon HD 5000 series cards :P

This is one of the few times they've released a hotfix driver prior to a release and not several days/weeks after, mainly because all eyes are going to be on performance in this game.

This is what always worries me about ATI, I'm thinking seriously about getting a 5970 and the first DX11 title they have to patch it cause they already know it wont work before it comes out.
Such a nice card but Ive had so many problems with ATI and compatibility in around 50% of games.

LMAO glass always half empty for you i see.

ts not because the game wont work its because ATI are on top of thier game and support the people who buy the cards. The fix is added support and improvement.

All games will work but what ATI are doing is looking at it like...well ok it works but lets see if we can make it work better.

I have never known eitehr nVidia or ATI not to work correctly with games. All games have worked. YET again I think this comes down to user problems with 50% of the games. Maybe you should have put..... "I am unable to setup a machine with ATI cards that work on 100% of games" rather than blaming the cards.

You know it seems all teh fanboys be it nVidia or ATI all seem to be the same. They blame the hardware rather than themselves. Trust me I am no fanboy I choose ATI myself because I have had 3 nVidia cards burn out on me over teh years and never had an ATI die so I know what I trust :)

Makes me laugh, soon as you criticise a GPU on these forums you get called a fanboy, whatever...
...Anyway, yes this is a personal experience, but many other people had the same problems, I cant remember what games now, but I remember waiting and waiting for a fix or the next drivers when I had CF4870's, I swapped the GPU out and installed an Nividia and problem solved, so I am affraid it was down to ATI on them occassions.
Am I fanboy, seriously I couldnt careless what I buy as long as its the best, so no, but I always have a "saw" feeling when a new games comes out and I have an ATI card at the time.
