ATI Driver Issues!

Oh, if you have Stalker, definately recommend the Stalker Complete Mod posted in the PC games section, should run well on your 4850 providing you're not running 1920x1080 :)

Glad to hear you've got it fixed.

Happy to help, unlike some people who just pop in to make a cynical anti-ATI comment and leave :p

Well this thead seems to of gotten a bit out of control! Anyway back to the original problem, I think I spoke to soon. I switched my machine on this morning and the same problems occured. I have uninstalled 9.5 and re-installed 9.1 and it seems fine for now...but for how long?!

I've had this card for a while now and have only just started having these issues (everything has been fine since I purchased it). I'm stuck on what to do now, google tells me nothing about the Vista refresh rates and there seems to be no fix!

Has anybody else suffered from the same problem or is it just me?

What PSU do you have?

Have you tried reseating the card?

What about trying your card in a friend's machine, or vice versa?

I have a Corsair HX520w.

I've reseated the card many times and have tried it in a different machine. It's definately a driver issue but I can't seem to find a workaround!

Right ok, i'm going to have to run through VGA at the moment as I can't seem to get this working through DVI, whatever I try!

The only problem now is I get a very blurry picture and lots of shadowing around icons/text. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

most likely its the vga lead - poor leads cause ghosting. try the auto setup on the monitor as well, that might cure it.

your DVi problem could be down to your display's EDID, or lack of. windows 7 is much stricter than vista when it comes to EDID and sticking to it, but there is a way around it by adding an INF file for a custom display profile: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7947-force-dvi-hdmi-resolutions-refresh-rates.html

that should also work in vista. if you are still having problem after messing with the dvi panel in the catalyst control center, then give that a whirl. it may work :)

Are you sure you removed the drivers properly

when i remove them i got to control panel>uninstall>custom uninstall>reboot>control panel> uninstall express (or all)> remove driver and device from control panel> reboot> reinstall.

its abit of a pita but it seems to work well. i used to get a lot of driver issues now no more.
