Hi all, been experiencing freezing when playing COD WAW lately, so done some things to try to solve the issue:
Updated to cat 9.8 from 9.7
Then back to 9.6 which I know worked.
Re-installed windows(:eek:)
Twice (:eek::eek:)
Fitted a new gpu psu in case it wasn't getting enough power.

The game freezes then sometimes the pc crashes and when it started I was getting BSOD with a memory driver fault iirc. I've tried swaping sticks about and memtest which seems fine, I am running 2 x 2gb sticks just now in case having all 4 occupied was the issue.

After the windows re-install I get the game freezing the a message balloon saying driver recovered atimag (or similar, it disappears)

Tried it on an older game UT3 and does the same.

Any ideas? Works fine in windows normally.

The card has been working fine and playing the same games for ages.
A GPU PSU is a power supply that runs the graphics card only, in addition to the main psu. Most folks want a bigger main psu but I liked the idea of a separate unit.
Tried un-installing all ATI drivers, done a driver sweep in safe mode. Re-booted and installed 9.8, still the same; freezes after about 3-5 mins of gameplay, will sit all day on desktop/net.
One thing I did notice if I escape the game at the first signs of stutter and quit I usually salvage it, but if I leave it in game it stutters a bit then crashes, requiring a re-start.
GPU fan is spinning fine and speeds up in game.
The gpu psu has an indicator light on it showing which rails are using power and when the pc crashes completely all lights were off, as if no power was being drawn by the card. Even when I first start the pc the 12v rail light is illuminated.

Have I got the beginnings of a faulty card?
