ATI driver problem

I'm trying to install the 10.1's but it keeps saying that the driver version is 8.690.0.0 from 11/12/2009.

I have uninstalled the existing drivers from add/remove programs and rebooted, there was then no driver installed so I installed the 10.1's rebooted and it says driver version is 8.690.

I installed driver sweeper did the same, after the reboot I tried to manually delete the remaining 3 files 1 file wouldn't allow me to delete which was in system32 and was a dll.

I am on xp 32-bit and am ready to throw the card out the window and buy an nvidia

I have a 4850
and over my dead body will there be another reformat just to update a driver ...

with the amount of work I have on at the moment I'd truly rather take a sledgehammer to it and go and buy another one(with an nvidia card)

Or you could just delete all the registry and system files?
Boot up in safe mode ofc, and try not to use driversweeper, do this manually.

Most errors are because of the user, or users system.

Nope, I prefer the sledgehammer!

ahh ffs ... well thanks for letting me know that!

They should sort out their naming conventions though, it's a bit confusing.
