I installed 10.3 ati drivers on ubuntu, rebooted and got an error.

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2%3a8.723.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2%3a8.723.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I've tried removing fglrx through synaptic package manager but every time I reboot, the package is still broken.

Any idea what to do? I'm stick using a low res for my desktop, can't even installed drivers through hardware update.

nevermind, fixed it.

I removed the entire ati folder in terminal and that let me install the drivers again. I haven't installed the latest drivers though, I just installed the one from system > admin > hardware drivers.

This driver gives me screen tearing which is really annoying, I hope come final 10.04 release some new ati drivers are out.
