My mates having problems with his x1800 .Basically the problem is this... we uninstall the catalysts, restart and its fine and loads the default xp driver for the card. We then install the new drivers (tried a few versions) and it restarts and it goes into 8bit colours and you cannot change the reso or colour depth and says there are no loaded drivers for the device. Anyone had this problem before or kno what might be causing it and if so any solutions? Thanks for any reply!

Would consider downloading Drivercleaner; its free and cleans all traces of drivers.
Best to uninstall present driver, reboot, load Windows into safe-mode, run Drivercleaner, reboot, in Windows (norm) install new drivers.
