I have a 1900xt and a 1950XT which I am running in software Crossfire using cat 7.4.

The reason I am still using 7.4s is that this was the last Cat driver that would work with software Crossfire on my set up.

Up until saturday it was perfect, the few games I play run at decent framerates (1680x1050), but ever since then every time I restart I get a message saying:

'the catalyst control centre is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter'

And I have to either reinstall the drivers or do a system restore, then its fine until the next restart. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it? I haven't changed anything at all so the only place I can see the problem coming from is a windows update thats automatically installed.

I had similar issue, but i am runing Vista, and it happened when i was installing 8.1 drivers for 3870 x2.

Did you try to use driver cleaner in safe mode, there might be something in conflict.

Also, long shot, but possible, maybe never driver got installed via windows update and its clashing with your control center.

I would just dump CCC completley and get ATItray tools, this app is not driver dependant, and it will give you much better control over your cards.

Well I cleaned all the drivers off and tried the latest ones, Catalyst Control Centre broke the .net framework.

Removed the framework and drivers, reinstalled both and had the same issue. Ended up cleaning the drivers off and putting 7.4s on again, worked until I restarted the pc then the same error as before.

It seems to occur after windows update installs the 'Software Distribution Service 3', so I have turned off automatic updates.
