Been using Nvdia for a long time,my GTX 580 has broke so ive had to buy another card in the meantime.

Ive gone for a 6950 Dual fan but i havent really got a clue about the drivers,last ATI card was a 5870 which was a long time ago and the drivers have changed a bit since then.

What are Catalyst application drivers,are these profiles for like xfire,are they installed over the top of the offical AMD drivers ie 11.7 or separately installed?

Are Preview drivers simply AMDs beta drivers?

Are AMD Catalyst Hotfix drivers installed over the top of official drivers?

I currently have 11.7 installed.

Hope I can help.

Catalyst application drivers are installed seperately and are not limited to xfire. More often than not they are to add xfire support but they also fix things for certain games for both single and multi gpu so would definitely install them.

Preview Drivers to my knowledge are just beta ones.

Finally for hotfix drivers they can be fully installed by themselves. If you are not having any problems though with the normal 11.7 then personallly would not bother with them unless you are planning to play a game which they address.
