Hello folks,
Appreciate that most games at the time of its release are nvidia optimized. However, whether I use my 4870 512 or 4870 X 2 its very choppy framerates. I guess it must be the way its coded. I'll try clocking my cpu again and soon will have a bigger monitor so I realize that I can't yet fully unleash my X 2's power when gaming at 1650 * 1080. I'll go on Bethesda webby and see if there any patches. Anyone else noticed this?

Thanks for the replies. At least Farcry 2 runs sweet as now, though I'd rather Fallout3 would run a little better. Most of the time it runs well but I guess it must be cpu hungry. It did help a bit by raising my q6600 to 3.0 but I am hesitant to try and raise it higher, too inexperienced also. Consequently I've had to lower the res :( Another important point is that when I first installed it I had a 512mb 4870, it detected my system @ ultra, now with an x2 it auto detected it as medium lol ??

Must admit, I did not uninstall the 4870 drivers first since I thought that they were exactly the same drivers. So I booted the system and found out that I needed to install the ones supplied, did so, all was fine though I did notice that the 8.11 update I had installed for the 4870 512 was still there though the x2 one is the same driver. Anyway, I deleted that and just to be on the safe side I downloaded it from tyhe source again.
Oh! Question : I download my drivers from somewhere other than amd/ati - is that ok?It's been fine in the past. Don't know if I'm allowed to say the name so I won't ;)

C64, try the 8.11 drivers. They should be fine.

Although the game runs much better outside scenes are somewhat inconsistent still. Don't get it, still never mind.

Also worth mentioning, don't know if I have already, that when I had my 512mb installed the auto game detect read everything as ultra. With the new X2 card in the auto detect said 'medium'?!?
Less mature support I guess for that beast. All other games it eats with ease.

Then running everything at lower spec you still get the same issue. At least its better than it was. The inside building gameplay is superb, outdoors is up and down, what ever the o/c or setting.

Yeah, dunno what it could be, my system is pretty well balanced. Haven't yet reinstalled game so I may do that and one or two other things when I get home from werk.

^ that's bizarre dude, some other forum member is running it with no flaws using the same card as you I think. Your issue could be vista 64. I bought that a couple of months ago and my god it ran like a dog. I tried stalker : clear sky and everything ran so slow, ok it was newly released game but even so. So I tried using the same operating system but with no hdr ect and not much better so back to xp 32 bit. Best os yet imo.
