Ati graphics card fan speed

Any ways to lower the fan speed, as this is the only thing stopping me from using ubuntu permanently. In windows i use ati tray tools and that works perfectly.

We're going back a few years, but I'm pretty sure there definitely *is* something.... i'm pretty sure it's a line in the driver config files, but my memory is hazy on the subject, I'm just reintroducing my self to *nix...

I could be going strange, or I might possibly even be thinking of the nv drivers.
