Hi All
I have a problem and need a little advise.
My 5970 was giving artifacts sometimes so i decided to update bios , all went fine but still was artifacting and then pc froze , at this point i thought i may aswell reseat heatsink and repaste (done many times before on other cards etc), but on install and start up no post.
Ive done many many tests and its down to either psu or 5970.
Pc posts with a gtx 450 and in bios atiflash picks up the 5970 bios installed ok etc.
The 5970 has no leds lighting up and psu is a enermax revolution 85+ 1250w all are same age about 2 years old.
so do you think its the psu or gpu, if the psu was failing could it still put out enough to start the gtx450 but not enough to make the 570 post.
or just having no leds lighting up mean the g/card is dead.
Just to add the green light on the psu shows green when powering up.
not sure if this is part of the problem but the usb ports dont power down on shutdown (keyboard keys stay lit up and things like memory stick power light stays on etc) m/board is a asus rampage 2 extreme bios 2101.
any info will be great
just to edit add the start p beeps = 1 short beep as normal ( so maybe m/board )
