Bought this as a "Pro" card which I flashed the BIOS to make it an XT with highter speeds etc - all good.

I've overclocked it and have the fan set at 25% in Rivatuner which up till I installed the game Bioshock was fine.

I use the PC mainly for 3D/Photoshop work and the noise from the FFX card wasn't a problem up till no.
The settings in Rivatuner dont seem to "stick" when playing games so I wonder if I can get a silent cooling solution for my HD2900 card?

Any advice?

*edit*
Also, im a bit wary of keeping the fan at 25% when it probably needs to go higher to cool the chip down. Too noisy though!!

oh - just a quick question...

My card is a HD2900 PRO flashed to XT.

As far as I know there are no PHYSICAL differences withthese cards therefore the Thermalright HR-03/R600 should be ok on my card?

read some opinions of it - seems its great!

Yes you will be fine, I had one on my 2900 pro for a while before selling them both on, did a good job but without a fan in my case the cooler got VERY hot - I could swear I burnt my finger touching the fins once !

Good stuff, going to go for the Thermalright HR-03 R600.

Can anyone reccomend a fan to go with it?
Does it NEED a fan?

(I'm not a huge ganer, nostly 3d work, but im enjoying Bioshock at the moment!

Thanks

im using a 120mm fan on mine, a little tough to squeeze on but it will fit, go for any low noise 92mm fan if your not that bothered about 3d stuff, anything around the 20db mark should be quiet enough to not notice.

Certainly made a huge difference for me, gone from being next to a jet engine to almost complete silence.

Here, MadMossy - do you have any tips on clocking your rig for better tf2/crysis performance? If so, howsabout sharing them with Mr Borderline Personality Disorder here?

I have a flashed 2900pro->xt, 4x1gb RAM, Q6600 @3.2 and some issues in all games with various settings.

still use mine water cooled with homemade block 32c idle 45c at load clocked at 900/900 and totally silent, good card as long as you don't bother with AA.
