ATI HD4770 reviews

Too expensive... Needs to be about £70inc.

Bit disapointed really, I was maybe gonna replace my 9600 with one, but power consumption isn't great, and the dual slot cooler is something that wasn't expected when looking at decent value cards like the 4670.

no chance

When you can get a 4830 for £77, this should be cheaper. Its certainly cheaper for AMD to make than a 4830.

Looks like dual slot, heat pipe cooling has made the price go up.

Still a great card, but we are spoilt now with prices, so it needs to be cheaper to make it a killer card.

9800GT idles with less watts, it's a shame it needs external power.

I was hoping for 4670 power/cooling specs but with 4850 performance, as that was what all the hype was leading to.

idles less by 9W, a bit odd and a shame I agree...but 9W isn't THAT much considering at full load the 9800GT consumes over 30W more.

Yeah, I'm mostly just picking tbh, I was just hoping for a sleeker card I guess. Maybe down the road we'll see cheaper, cooler and passive models with HDMI etc.

Yeah £87 is far too much, needs to drop down into the £70 bracket ASAP.

At £10 less than a 4850/GTS250 it just isn't worth it.

It would have been worth it if it ran cooler, without external power (for all those Dell owners etc), you'd maybe pay a premium for single slot, low powered card.

Right, I currently have an X800GTO2 in my machine, will this card be about the same length & depth. I read about some cards spanning two slots, so would hope I could order without worry on one of these!

Thanks!

I think the idle power draw and cooler are disappointing, and I don't think the price should go over £80.

However, load power draw and overlocking potential are good. If they had 1GB versions of these out for around £100 I almost definitely would have got 2 for crossfire - though settled for a 1GB 4870 at £130 :)
