ATI HD4870

Hi all,

Need some help please.

I`ve just replaced my old Nvidia 9500gt for a Gainward ATI HD4870 "golden sample" 512mb PCIe.

Installed the card fine and used the most recent version of ccc (10.8). Trouble is I can`t get 1680x1050 ingame (mafia2, modern warfare 2, kane and Lynch 2). They only show 1400x1050 and 1440x900 as the max resolution, even though my monitors max res and card are set to 1680x1050???

I`ve also installed previous versions of ccc (down to 9.5 and up).

Any help in getting this worked out would be appreciated.

AMD 9850 quad
4GB Ram
Cibox 22" TFT Widescreen
Gainward ATI HD4870 512mb PCIe

Make sure you have the correct refresh rate set for your monitors, should be 60Hz.

is it possible for you to scroll down and pick a higher res?

Make sure the games have 60hz selected before you select a res.

Temi D - On the games I listed it won`t go anymore then 1440x900.

RavenXXX2 - I have but no good.

Check the monitor.

It may be stuck in a smaller res than the one you'v set in windows.

try to reset the settings on the monitor.

Try with or without the ccc, which ever one you havent tried.

uncheck the tick box shown in this image.

by default this is checked, it sounds like windows 7 is not playing nice with your monitor driver.

To get to this - right click desktop > Screen resolution > advanced settings

Did you clean the drivers out properly? Driver sweeper etc?

Could you try and manually force the resolution by editing some config files? Give google a search for that one...

Could also be the 10.x Drivers. With my 4850 every 10.x driver ****ed me up completely.

A big thank you to you all for your suggestions and help with my problem. I managed to get it working somehow
I uninstalled the display adapter and monitor, rebooted, let windows do it thing and then installed ccc 9.12, it worked. Tried out all the games and the extra resolutions were present.
