so apparently the r600 is coming soon, and then a month or so later a 1.1ghz clocked version as the first will be 900mhz, ill hold out that extra month or 2 just for the extra 200mhz clockspeed boost. Also it has GDDR4 and the first version will have a total bandwidth of 115 GB/s GDDR3, whereas the version after it will have total bandwidth of 140 GB/s.. not bad eh? im sure that one will be a lot better for newer games.

Interest info, especailly as I'm about ready to upgrade from my old X800 XTPE, thanks.

BTW, where'd you get your information from?

Pete.

22nd Jan apparently, with the faster GDDR4 version coming in March, but a few days ago the inkwell reported that it had been pushed back from the 22nd Jan to March (so don't know where that leaves the faster one, could release both together, or push the faster back i spose), so who knows, a few of us on here heard March as well last year sometime like, so id say its just a wait and see, lets just see if it does appear on the 22nd. :)

They only put GDDR4 on the x1950 so they could say 'we have the first GDDR4 Ram graphics card out, and before Nvidia', thats all it was, nothing special, now they can just go back to GDDR3 as theres nothing Nvidia can do about it, ATi will remain the first ever with a GDDR4 card out, and as i said, thats all it was banged on the x1950's for, they aint bothered about using GDDR4, its just getting the 1 up on Nvidia by releasing the first card to use it, they have done it, so back to GDDR3 as they got their one up. :)

ive had an x1900xtx and now got a x1950xtx (was given as a replacement) when both clocked at 750mhz core the x1900xtx gave better peformance in 3dmark even though its ram was at 891mhz and i have the x1950xtx at 1100mhz.

gddr4 uses slacker timings dont it ? hopefully they will have been tighten up a bit or something or the gddr4 r600

Thats why when the x1950 XTX's came out they were not selling, everyone was buying the much cheaper x1900's still before there was none left as they were the same performance, they tried to charge over £100 more for the same card with a different cooler basically, as the GDDR4 Ram didn't make a jot of difference. :D

I always pictured AMD/ATI would launch Jan for time with Vistas launch to push it..... but I got a bad feeling since we seen no other leaked benchies/pics and info that its not coming Jan... more like March like the rumours suggest.

I've seen nothing to suggest it's going to be released this month at all, theres so little known about this card I would'nt be supprised if we were waiting another 2 months or more..

atm its just wishful thinking to expect it out when vista is released.

It'll probably be shown at CES this week. Then hopefully we'll have a release date.

" We know that the Green Goblin's minions back in Santa Clara, CA are watching this space with the utmost attention. "

Lol, pointless sentence, nvidia has no need to worry about R600 at all.

so anyone think one card will still be enough? if games r gonna dip below 40 or 30fps id rather buy 2.. whats the point of 1 card if it cant even run a game over a smooth framerate all the time?
