Hi all,

I have moved my media pc from one side of the room to the other and had to add an extended HDMI cable, for some reason there is no output to the tv unless there is no driver installed for the graphics card, As soon as i install the ATI drivers the picture goes blank, It also shows picture on POST and whilst windows is loading but as soon as the driver is initialised the screen goes blank, Any idea's, the only difference is i am using another HDMI cable could this be the fault? even though it works during startup and when there are no graphics drivers installed.

Thanks

Install the driver, boot into safemode, set the screen to 1024x768 just to test.

If that works and you can get into the CCC, there are options for DVI/HDMI alternative frequency, maybe set that. Or maybe set it to 720p50hz and reboot. As you might be getting a black screen as its trying to load the native LCD res through the HDMI, when the HDMI might only support 720p/1080i.

Or you could try using VGA to set the res, then switch to HDMI once its set.

O.k. i have tried all of this and even tried going into safe mode with VGA setting only, Still i see the POST screen and the windows vista Progress bar but as soon as it boots into windows (which i can hear through the speakers) the screen goes blanks, I also know it has fully booted because i can access the computer using logmein and everything is loaded.

Any more idea's as i can't think what else to try, I only moved it from one end of the room to the other and the only differance is a longer HDMI cable (i have also tried a second cable with no luck)
