My mate is having bad problems with his 9000 and he's tried to re-install etc.
He's been on the net and other people have the same problem.
What card (not a Radeon) would you recommend up to the price of £70.
Thanks.

he's tried everything and it is recognised. Something in his PC doesn't like the graphics card so can anybody recommend something else up to £70 which is not a Radeon please.

An nvidia 6600 can be found for £50 or so on the bay and if you're lucky you may even find a 6800 for £70 if you catch one at the right time! ;)

I think the 7600 would be just out of your friends budget! :(

Good luck! :)

He's not trying to install using the latest catalysts is he? They only support 9500 and upwards. Has he tried using an older driver?

He used the drivers that came with the card.
I have no expertise in this area (or any area) so I just want a suggestion for him so that he can call in OCUK and buy a card but he doesn't want a Radeon.
He wants at least the same quality he had with the 9000.
Thanks

Just asked him and it used to be OK. He tried a fresh install and no matter what drivers he puts on it trips up. he just wants to walk in OCUK tonight and buy a decent card.

The cards i mentioned will all cream a 9000 no probs!

Just find one at the price he likes and you'll be set!

That is of course if his mobo's not the real cause for the card not being recognised!

Also, getting decent cards that will play relatively new games well at that price is hard! OCUK may not stock anything but an ancient card for that price!

As an example their cheapest agp nvidia is a 7600 gs at £88!

ATi's 9550 is way under budget at £35 and the x1300 with quiet arctic cooler is on the money at £67!

If he can stretch (and if he even needs something that powerful) to the 7600gs it's by far the best card there!

Ball's in your court QABoy! ;)
