ATi Radeon 9800 Pro Problem

Well if the card overheats, then it temporarily turns itself off to cool down thus preventing any damage, thats why people tell you its a heat issue.

still could be heat issue. have you made sure the fan is still running on it ???? take side of case off check the fan. also have you updated the drivers at all lately ?? just had to do my nephews pc as it kept ghetting graphic corruption in the lastest game on his x600.

I once knew someone with a 9800 pro who had this exact same problem and it turned out to be PSU related. Still, 9800 Pro's do run pretty hot so it may well be over heating.

I just thought that heat might not have been the cause of the problem because I have a temperature gauge on the card, and I don't think I have seen a huge increase in temperature before crashes. However, I don't see a drop in frame-rate either. Does anyone think the no drop in frame-rate is concurrent with a problem with heat, considering that the heat sensor might not be all that good, or well placed?

what temps are u getting anyway?

I know the fan is running, but I think the temperatures I am getting from the sensor are not quite right (about 30°C) because it is using a sensor that is not mounted directly on the GPU, but on the PCB itself.
