Reporting I have no memory in Direct X

Cannot run any games as it says Direct X reports no memory.

Here is a picture of DX Diag reports...

PICCIE

Can anyone enlighten me ?

I did update to latest ATi Drivers I guess it might have something to do with that.

Try some older drivers.

I am running errr Omega 6.5's on this laptop (equivilant of a 9600pro desktop GPU) and I don't have any issues like that.

Its odd though that the GPU failed the Direct X 7 tests but passed the DX8 tests.

Have removed ATI drivers, run Drive Cleaner. Reinstalled Catalyst 5.5 and DirectX 9.0

Still has same issue. Doesnt show up that I have any memory on the card.

Looks like I shall be buying new :(

I would try reinstalling windows before buying new hardware
Bill gates and his minions are more likely to screw something up , rather
than a card fault.

Agreed, sounds more like software than hardware. A newer card never hurts, but when you upgrade it would be nice to sell/pass on a working card rather than bin it.

9800pro is still not too bad a card and its probably driver problem for you. also on some windows install like server 2003 you have to go to the display troubleshooting tab and make sure the slider for hardware acceleration is set all the way to the right (max). check that first before you do a reinstall.

Have you tried the card in another pc? does it show up in the bios as having memory?

id check both of them before binning it.

the card's got to have memory to even show an image on the screen. with no frame buffer its gonna be a bit odd to work with. then again stranger things have happened.

post a pic of the card to make sure its all good.

im gonna try need for speed carbon on my 9800pro. wonder how it will run.....

Just to let you know I reformatted my machine and everything is working perfectly again.

Must have been the latest drivers screwed it up bad and no amount of driver cleaning was going to fix it.

Least I have a nice quick running OS again :)

yea its still a half decent card. but i just orderd a 7600gs to replace the 9800pro so looks like i will have a 9800pro for sale soon.

mind you the 9800pro does run need for speed carbon at 1360x768 with 2xAA and most details turned up. so its not too bad.

ok this error has re-occured. This is most bizarre. I can't work out whether it's a card problem, a DirectX error, an ATI driver error or a game thats causing the 128mb of memory to dissapear !!

I have rolled back to before I installed the ATI Catalyst drivers (and any other programs that were installed) and the 128mb shows up in DXDIAG.

I am trying to download the OMEGA drivers from their site but it doesnt seem to be working.
