ATI radeon graphics card drivers

i bought a ati radeon 4870 x2 with my ultima vanquish about a month ago ive been looking to update it as when i alt tab games i can still see them as a ghost image on by desktop etc

so i went to http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx and selected vista 64bit and radeon and then the 4800 series i downloaded the drivers only but it seems to mess up and doesnt apply properly.

any ideas?

Did you remove the previous drivers beforehand? I believe ATi still requires that you remove all previous drivers from your PC before installing new ones.

Try downloading the full catalyst package, uninstall all ATi software from your machine, then make a fresh install from your new download. That should sort it..

when doing the un-install of the old drivers also run driver sweeper which will remove any remnants not taken out by the standard un-installer.

The recommended package removes the drivers for me, never had to remove them myself.
