Hi,
I recently purchased a 5450 from OcUK for use in a HTPC. I already own one and have been more than happy with it for this type of work, and at less than £20 it is a bit of a no-brainer.
Anyway, since installing the new card I've no joy whatsoever in getting 1080p HD material playback correctly. The picture is constantly freezing and jerking severely. I noticed that the Windows Experience score for the new card was very low (2.3 or something) whereas the other 5450 gets around 4.9. This led me to use GPU-Z to compare the 2 cards.
Needless to say the difference was very easy to spot. The first 5450 (the one that works) shows as having a 64-bit memory interface and 666Mhz memory clock. The second 5450 (the newer one which doesn't work) shows as having a 32-bit memory interface and 400Mhz memory clock!
On physical inspection of the cards they are almost identical, both stating the model and a spec of 512MB RAM GDDR3. How odd?
Anyway, I've requested an RMA fro OcUK but thought I'd share this moderately interesting tale. If anyone has heard of similar stories then please do share, likewise if you know of a way to 'fix' this.
Thanks
Rob
Edit: It is this card if anyone's interested:
