ATi Radeons - Fans Speed?

Hi I seem to be having and issue when my PC wakes up from sleep. I have a Radeon 5870 and when it first boots from power up its quiet as a mouse until heavy demand kicks in and the fans spin up and spin down etc..

BUT When ever the PC goes to sleep and then resumes the fans spin up to max speed and never spin down even though its just idle on desktop..

Anyone know what causes this?
