I asked about the inf error I was getting when trying to install any of the new drivers etc.

This is the official response.

We have responded to your issue.Solution: At this point in time, the X1950 can only use the driver included on the product cd. 6.8.

Support for this product will be included in the next driver release. No Eta.

Is this true or have I got some random answer.

sounds about right, the 6.10s the actual proper optimized drivers for the 1950 family are due out the end of this month/start of november they should be out now as they are already late, but ati are trying to make a really good set for the 1950's including some performance boosts of somekind etc. :)

for folding at home? it's nice to see ATi supporting FAH:)

They were released in beta to coincide with the roll out of the beta GPU Folding client.

Stan :)

What kind of performance boosts do you generally get with a new card and new drivers, 5%-10%, less?

This is the first time I've bought a top of the range card, more or less at launch, so I'm interested as to what I should expect.

Just edit the inf file and You can install any of the drivers.. ;)

Tip !..I would not bother as the bundled drivers are better than 6.9's on a X1950xtx, the Beta 6.10's help x1950Xtx crossfire but did not seem much better for a single card to me

seeing as how the memory controller is directly controlled by the drivers its quite possible that silly high speedboosts can be seen if ati pull out a new driver.

I wonder where ATI "Pull Out" their drivers from ? Obviously it's on a time delay that's running a bit late this month :D :D :D
They've done it in the last week of the month a few times, I would be quite annoyed if there was no driver update for this month (and so would the X1950 owners I think.)
