Are they really going to be coming out? they where ment to be out by late june but still no signs. Anyone got any news? im not wishing to buy these, i want these to come out and watch other good cards to drop prices :D ( if it happens. )
Will these cards need some special motherboards because of the new things that there rumoured to have? i know what will probably happen, guaranteed future proof 1200 watt power supplys wont be future proof.
Whats your say? will these cards be good? or will new cards be going down hill even with new technology. If you think about it 2 4890 or 2 295gtxs can run ANYTHING in its path because there is no game what can really push them. So whats the point in going brand new?

You mean GT300? Yeah, these are cards that support DX11. ATI should be launching at the end of this year, and nVidia at the start of next. But i don't think it's worth it yet really, it will be another year still until there are any games that support it and even then they will be few and far between. How many DX10 games are there now? Not many. So unless they have a huge performance increase the better bet will be to go for current gen cards which will hopefully be a lot cheaper when the DX11 cards come out.

Last rumours I hear were that ATI's new top end cards were due in November sometime, and Nvidia's first quarter next year.

As the gents above have said, November for ATI DX11 and 2010 Q1 for Nvidia.

I'd love for 40nm refreshes of GT200 card to come out (still got 70 days left on EVGA Step-Up), but I don't see it happening. The main reason for the DX11 delay is the problems at TSMC getting 40nm yields up - so a 40nm refresh of GT200 sounds like a waste of precious silicon.

As for power requirements and connection issues - I wouldn't worry. They should definitely be PCI-E x 16 (not sure if PCI-E 2.0 motherboard will be recommended though), so few problems there. As for power - I believe Nvidia was aiming for a bit less than GTX280 levels of power consumption for their flagship single GPU card (200-225 W). This is still relatively high, but not unreasonable. I'd expect an overclocked system with one GT300 card should do perfectly fine with a decent 600W PSU (probably less, but this is a pretty safe bet considering the card isn't out yet). You definitely won't be needing a 1200W monster unless you plan to go for Tri/Quad SLI Gt300.

this is what i like about this forum people give you good information :D

Last thing i knew about the ATIs where it will come out in 2011..not this November. I think i got a link in my bookmark saying this, ill try and find for you. Would be great if they did come out in November.
Rroff yes i was meaning that, i was going to menchion something about the GT300 later. I read that there was going to be a ultra versions of the 280gtx and 295gtxs with 40nm WITH dx10.1

cmndr andi, willl there be any point in quad sli-ing GT300s? there will be no dx11 games coming out (if it is dx11) so i think if people had sense 1 would be enough.
About the power. I was told by my friend that there will be another kind of power cable for it so it doesnt use as much as you said. It might cause problems with older power supplys and motherboards. dont know full facts but if i get any links saying this ill send.

Lol, there isn't much point Quad Sli-ing GT200 - so the case for Quad Sli Gt300 is not the easiest to make. But i'm sure if you are running at ultra-high resolutions and you want the absolute best performance - then you can achieve it (and line Nvidia's coffers in the process).

As for power cable, i'd like to hear more info if you have it. I wouldn't have thought the cable would cut the power requirement much though. The cables barely dissipate any power and the consumption is determined by the GPU. Would be interesting if they introduced new cables- but as far as I can tell the 6+2 pin PCI-E ones work fine.
