i have been trying to use the below software to oc my 5870,

ATI Tray Tool - http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=733

but when installed mcafee flags up a component in this as an artimus trojan.

what can i do to stop mcafee Quarantining this program? short of switching off mcafee!!!!!

I guess that's a false positive.

Haven't used Mcafee for several years due to it being bloatware and a system hog though so can't help you out with configuring it. You'd expect there to be an option though somewhere to turn off automatic quarantine and give you, the user an option.

i will have an indepth look when i am home, which anti virus do you use??

Eset Nod32 as it uses considerably lower resources than my previous AV of choice which was AVG free.
