ati vs nvidia

which is better out of the two?

i understand there will be fan boys of either but i would like an unbias opinion as i was going to buy an ati sapphire 6970 2gb but an now unsure

I've used both and had pros and cons with both.
I think Nvidia's cons list is getting smaller, whilst AMD's isn't.

now this is what i dont understand as i have currently and ati sapphaire 5850 and have never had one issue with it, should i stick with what i know?

ATI are now AMD but in any case look at some benches, reviews and the contents of your wallet and buy the best you can justify the money for. 5850 is still a class card

When it comes to GPUs I've generally found sticking with what you know works best tbh - I commonly see the most issues when people swap from one vendor to another.

i thought as much, i went from a sapphire 5770 to the 5850 so i think if i do upgrade i will go for the 6970

Unless the Vram on the card you have now is an issue i would hold out until the next series.

Or just make sure its a worthwhile upgrade.

i was toying with the notion of holing out till the next gen cards are out, it wont hurt to wait a while longer

does this not also depend on number of monitors with ati having the edge on a single card..

i do have two 22" monitors, I think thats settled it, better the devil you know
