Ati X1600 or Nvidia 76xx series card

hello,

just trying to gather a few opinions from people as is my first built i'm trying to put together the best i can for the money.

i want to get a Graphics Card in the £60-£80ish region. Not sort of £90+

the general consensus from people on here is they are very recommending of the Nvidia 7600 range rather than the X1300 or the X1600 range of ATi. I originally planned to go for a 256MB X1600 Pro but from what i have heard, they're crap.

i dont play very many games and i dont mind not playing at top quality. i will be more than happy with a sort of average/half decent card in that region.

any help on this much appreciated

The X1600 Series is pretty rubbish, go for a 7600.

The 7600GS is a lot faster card than the X1600 pro and can be picked up for around £70.

There's a 7600GT on this week only offer for £85, which is a fair bit faster again.

What he said, x1600's are slower than 6600 GT's, and as for x1300's well.

Based on your spend, these would be the class leaders in their respective price brackets:-

7600 GS (£69), 7600 GT (£100), 7900 GS (£110), x1950 Pro (£125), x1950 XT (£170), 8800 GTS (£290), 8800 GTX (£375).

GS is a fine card, but a GT would be worth stretching for if you can.
