Hi guys,

Have been asked to spec a machine for a particular piece of video recording software. Apparently the recommended GPU is an ATI X1600. Am having trouble finding it however...Any ideas if this comes under a different name?

And Also, these might not be the most recent specs, so could you recommend another GPU of similar power? Or the same price and more power?

Thanks a lot:D

they stopped making x1600s long ago, best thing to do is to give us a budget and if possible give us the name of the software you are using so we can give you advice on the card of your choice

x1600's are fairly old, but you will need a 3450 plus to be as good these days I reckon!
3650's are available from ocuk at under £50 - they seem failry decent, but i'm guessing nvidia *may* give better performance at this price point

Thanks for the replies, that's be why I cant find them then!

£50 would probably be the top end of the budget, the 3650's seem like they'll do the job nicely. Is there much difference between them? This is the cheapest, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...l DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail (H365F512NP) would I see much improvement if i spent more?

The software is for CCTV recording, so 16, 25fps, 720*576, mpeg4 images being displayed at the same time. This sounds a lot, but I don't think it actually take much to run it. Oh, the software is called Geovision

Thanks:D
