I have no idea where to begin here..
I try to play Command & Conquer 3 and randomly at some point during the game, it goes into Windows and I receive a pop up with a number of errors which causes the game to crash.
So I ran "dxdiag" and found some errors with "Test Direct3d"
So I went to ATi's website and updated the driver from 7.7 to 7.8, restarted and ran dxdiag again, no problems!
So.. yet again I try C&C3 and for a while it is fine, I think to myself nice it was a driver issue.. then right before I finish my level... yeah, it crashes.
Restarting doesn't help. Using a different driver does not help.
Also, a point to mention is that I have played WoW and have noticed the odd problem with the graphics card such as the screen going off, then hearing the gfx card restart (the fan goes loud anyway as if I just turned the PC on) and then the game restores back to how it was.. but the pause for a few seconds and the blank screen makes me wonder if my graphics card has just partially died?
Sorry for such a vague post, I'm going on the assumption I need a new card, but if anyone has had this problem before, and has fixed it.. let me know please.
The card is only just over a year old, I've never had a GFX card brake on me in 10+ yrs! just a few months ago the PSU went.. Should I just give up with PCs?
