ATI X1800XT -> ?

Afternoon all,

I sold a mate my old X1800XT about a year ago and it's now died a death. He's looking for a replacement ideally with dual DVI connections but doesn't want to spend a fortune. Which of todays ATI cards is equivalent to the X1800XT?

I don't know. The X1800XT served him well up to now so as I say, something of equivalent power will suffice.

Just get a fixed budget for a card and we can recommend you the best bang for the buck!

Best bet would probebly be a 2nd hand 4850/4870.

if your wanting to game look out for a 2nd hand 8800gt or 9800gt...
im unsure of the ati equivalent...

I think the only game he plays is Flight Sim which doesn't rely that heavily on the graphics card.

3870 512mb or nvidia equivalent should be more than enough. Or could always grab a cheap 4850 512mb, something like that will have plenty of poke.
