ATI X1900XT Flicker Issue??/

helloo all

i got an sapphire x1900xt with 6.8 installed, do anyone experience any screen flicker when on desktop.

its very quick and happens randomly?

i dont know how to describe it accurtly , is like a s light stutter or something

I built a rig for the neighbour and he has a 1300 in it, and when opening certain windows, IE being main one or control panel there is flickering for some reason. I uninstalled his drivers and put on the latest Omega's but still the same problem. He is using a Packard Bell CRT from original pc.
Monitor refresh rates are fine and vsync is off.

mmm i dont get it was fine from 6.7 than i took that off and put 6.5 and than started from them and than i put the 6.8 and its there still anyone else got this as well or any if flickering issues?

I treied the drivers on the cd and then th Omega's, used driver cleaner after unistalling them as well. No idea what it is i'm afraid.

Actually i do get it, i thought you were on about the picture just flickers, but if your on about the screen actually going blank for a split second then yes i do get that, very very random, only had it once while playing HL2 ages ago, and normally get the odd one while on the desktop, but when i get it its not long after i have just turned my machine on, so i just put it down to my TFT warming up, as it has got an auto adjust setting, so i presume when my TFT warms up then it just adjusts the picture, hence the split second blank screen.

I would also say its likely down to certain TFT's, CRT's etc.., as the TFT i had before my new Sony was a Hitachi, and it never ever happened on there, and i had that one for years, but as i say after it seems to have warmed up it never happens again, so i only get one not long after ive switched on, and thats it, so it doesn't bother me.

Thats if your on about the screen going blank for a split second as said, im on an x1800 XT, so id say it deffo sounds like its certain models of TFT/CRT.

I think what you are refering too is when the resolution changes on your monitor, it does that on mine. It's normal. On a crt monitor you would here a click as it changed but on tft's the screen blanks for a fraction then come up at new resolution.

It does it with my Viewsonic, so it could be just certain monitors, and if you have the power to run everything at the monitors native resolution then it won't happen too often anyway.

Yes but the resolution is not getting changed, the screen just quickly blanks for no reason.

In that case i have no idea. If it is with the new drivers its very strange. I don't know any ATI specific forrums.

I experienced problems with the 6.8s, but i'm on an X800XT-PE :/ I got lag on desktop, as if when you drag a window around, it has an uber motion blur. Just like when you dont have any drivers installed.

Running 6.7 omegas and it's fine now.

I still say its down to certain TFT/CRT's, as i had my old TFT for over 5 years.

May be driver issue, anyone who gets the flicker, try it without your TFT/CRT drivers, just use the windows standard one, see if you still get them.
