ATI X1900XT Problems

Hi all

Ive been asked to test a card for someone as they are hoping the problems they are having with the card is compatibility and not the card itself

They had a NVIDIA mb chipset running the ATI X1900XT 512mb card and reported that whenever any driver was installed, windows would not start...it would get past the splash screen then the monitor would go "no signal", not sure if windows is booting or now

Now I just got the Gigabyte P965-DS3 with the Intel chipset and everything was going well, but now has just got random.

It was working fine at first, with the drivers. Then after a restart (after nothing changed) my hard drive disappeared off the GSATA port, and windows would boot (same as reported by friend). I swapped the hard disk over to the Intel port and booted again...same

I did a system restore to before the catalyst install and it booted again. Installed catalyst...dead again

Removed catalyst drivers again and installed omega drivers, still not working. Then it was late and i went to bed

Next morning i just tried booting it and it was fine.....even a few restarts and its still working fine. Although I am half expecting it to mess up again so im trying not to restart it as much as possible

Any ideas?

i was using my 1900XT on a Nvidia 4 mobo and now on a Intel 965 with a conroe setup.

did he have the latest Nvidia Nforce chipset drivers installed?

no problems on either one mate....

I got no idea what drivers he had, but its happening with mine again

Windows does boot normally, it just isnt displaying it. Has anyone heard of any monitor detect problems?

I uninstalled the Omega drivers and it cured it...but i still need some drivers
Trying Catalyst again

[edit] Straight away, stops working again. Cant even access the ATI settings to try and force it onto a monitor

suggest to me its a software problem , if its working before windows starts.

Not sure what to do...

The latest Gigabyte drivers are in, Catalyst is v6.10, Omega was using 6.9 Catalyst

Isnt there another 3rd party graphics driver set, i remember using it a while ago, was a competitor to Omega

Sorry for spamming..

Would installing Catalyst, doing a system restore, then installing Omega leave some of the old Catalyst bits behind?

Im thinking a clean reinstall with Omega might help

After being disconnected from power for about 1 hour....its working again, hmm. Its on all night now

I think ill tell him the card is borked, and then ill order one of those 7900GTOs next week sometime

Reawakening this one as its still being a pain

Could it have something to do with the power supply, given that it has been running fine for an entire day at times, with games etc...I have the Antec Truepower 480w PSU

I installed 2 hard disks...and the computer ran fine, but I started up Guild Wars and the screen went blank, on restarting it was back doing it again. I messed with the drivers a bit, installed Cat 6.8, then removed the hard disks and the computer booted.

Played a bit of BF2142 for a few hours, then had a play with the Gigabyte overclocking software, only put the cpu up by 0.2% and the computer rebooted back to turning the screen off again.

After an overnight rest it still wont boot.
