Thinking of replacing the above stated card.

Some good offers on the OCUK site this week and i'm looking at these 2 cards:

or

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-052-BG

The ATI card is cheaper and on paper a much better spec.

But reading through the forums, ppl still applaud the 8800 based cards.

I'm thinking of treating myself to crysis to play on vista (32bit) on high settings.

My preference is the ATI card but is there much difference in real world performance or a good reason to go with the nvidia card?

so how is a higher spec card out-performed by the 8800gt ?

Specs doesnt always related to real performance. I could go out and buy a Bentley for £120,000 and it will be better specc'd with a big enginer, or i could buy a BMW M5 for half the price and it will blow the socks off a bentley.

Although the ATI card looks powerful on paper, the benchmarks clearly show the GT is the better card.

I came from a 1950 pro to my 8800GT, well worth the small price of the GT now. Your 1950 will sell and make a few quid back.

You want to play crysis on high settings, well my system can do high settings albiet at 1024x res but its still really nice about about 25fps. So just stick with the same card you got now really.
