ATIKMDAG.sys on cold boot but fine after restart??

On RIG 1 (see sig) I have always had a Tagan 880W PSU which at present has 5770's in Xfire with Win7 x64. Everytime I do the first cold boot of the day, I get the BSOD with the ATIKMDAG.sys message. The PC restarts itself and boots straight into Win7 x64 and works flawlessly????

I read in another forum that it is likely to be the PSU that is the problem but until 10 days ago I had a GTX295 in RIG 1 and it never BSOD'd on me in cold boots, it worked perfectly.

Surely the GTX 295 would draw more power from the PSU than 2 5770's in Xfire??

Any ideas please?:)

Thanks.:D

It could be the capacitors or soldering on one of the cards isn't upto scratch... I had this with my BFG 260 - it would never boot first time after awhile but once warmed up it was fine.

Nope, I will try swapping the cards about tonight when I get home. Thanks.

P.S Do you think you can RMA a card if that is the problem as they work fine after a reboot??

If you discover it to be faulty, it could be signs of a larger fault developing, that's what I'd say at least.

How long have you had them? If it's under 7 working days (so you don't count public holidays etc) then you wouldn't even need to do an RMA, you could return it under the sales of goods act, still as faulty, but it would be a lot quicker.

Had 'em about 10 days so will test each card separately to see if one of the two cards is the issue.

Then RMA if there is an issue with one of them.
