The first impression I got is you are overclocking too much. I got the same problem with my single 3870 when I turned it to 830/2400MHz. And I'm on XP.
Any more details?

no my cards are not overclocked at the moment, only my cpu is overclocked, CoH also crashes too, i have tried re-installing 8.3 but same

are you having the problem now, since deleting fraps and was it the same problem, some peeps are saying disable powerplay helps but dont know how to do that tbh

hi guys, found this thread through googling - this issue has been rumbling on for ages, is there any sort of fix for it yet? It's incredibly annoying, I can't do any sort of gaming at all with this driver restarting.

My E8400 is overclocked but the ATI 1900XTX isn't (because it crashes when I try to run the overdrive configuration utility!)

Can anybody help

Thanks :)

hi m8, i managed to fix the problem to a certain extent, i have stuck with 8.3 driver and also the hotfix for 8.3 and ever since then i havent had one single driver stopped responding message....hope this helps ya :)

Ah, nice!

There's a hotfix specifically for the 8.3 driver though?

Some people are saying it's due to the CCC, do you have that installed or just the driver?

I've had this problem with and without CCC installed under vista 64. I dont think there is any definative solution for this issue yet.

it's been months though! What a farce.

Some people are saying it might be do do with an overloaded NB on overclocked intel boards like mine. Do you think this could be right?

Its got nothing to do with overclocking as I had the problem on my stock Q6600 with 2900XT card. However I've only ever had the problem with dual monitors running, never had the problem with a single monitor.

Some have said to try turning the vista Aero desktop off ?!? maybe that will help you.

I tried finding this hotfix for the 8.3 drivers.

Is it an ATI hotfix or the MS KB938194 one?

Is it just for that set of drivers?

Running a 1950XT on WinXP overclocked to 1950XTX speeds. I had the driver crashing playing COD4 with the 8.6 drivers and had to run the GPU at stock speeds. Went back to 8.3 and can play ok with GPU overclocked.
