ATI's 4870 and 4890, whats the difference ?

850 mhz vs 750 mhz clock speed while the memory is 900mhz vs 975mhz. Also all HD 4890s have 1GB of VRAM while the HD 4870 has 2 skus with 512MB or 1GB.

However, currently all HD 4890s have voltage control and it is possible to hit a clock speed of 1ghz. The HD 4870 can overclock to anywhere between 780-830mhz on average. Some HD 4870s do have voltage control though I believe so I guess they could be overclocked higher.

Not much point in one if tbh. I read the review over at Guru3D.com and it scored in most benchmarks only a few FPS higher (as you'd guess) compared to a 4870. But for the price, you may as well stick with a 4870. However the 4890 does use less power at idle. :)
