Tried to draw some cash to get a cab home, no dice. Tried a different ATM, nope. Turns out nobody in this area (Clapham) can get any cash out anywhere, although the one shop I asked said his card machine was still working.

Had to catch a bus home.

Thanks banks, you bunch of *****.

Which banks did you try? It seems odd if multiple banks all had the same problem despite them running completely different back ends? Maybe a network issue in that area (ie a telecoms issue rather than a bank issue)?

Halifax, Natwest, HSBC, Lloyds, Santander and post office. I even tried one of those dodgy atms which cjarge you to draw cash.

None of them worked.

Halifax and Lloyds share a banking system but the others don't.

So not a bank issue at all then but a problem with the telephone network or internet network in some way? Thanks banks :)

Natwest had a message on their online banking ealier yesterday to say they were doing maintenance tonight and would be unavailable in the early hours of the morning.

They also said that withdrawing cash would be unavailable in the early hours for Natwest customers from any cash point as well.

I have not seen a cab/taxi in a long time that wouldn't take a card payment. Plus, why didn't you just uber it?!

Clocks going back buggers them up a bit. Got a notice on my natwest online banking login saying that all ATMs are unavailable for a few hours. Probably got to push a time update to them all.

Is taking the bus a bit too working class for you, OP? :p

There was a note about this when I logged into my online banking. ATM's would be out of action for a few hours. Should have read the memo
